Meetings and Events

Monthly Meetings

Tech Talks

From time to time, we feature one-hour meetings via Zoom about technology topics. These are a member benefit (no fee) and are announced via the newsletter and our Groups/io forum, where members will find links to register and the Zoom session.

Marketing Mojo

Typically the second Sunday of each month, we'll gather via Zoom to review a variety of topics related to book marketing. This is a great benefit of membership!

Writing Sprints

Need a little structure and team motivation to work on that important project? Give writing sprints a try!

Six times a week, several members meet online for a brief chat and timed periods of writing. Here's when we meet (all times Pacific):

  • Monday-Friday 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.

  • Monday/Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

  • Saturday from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

The Zoom link and password are listed in the members' Groups.io forum. Another great reason to join NorCal Romance Writers!

(Note that there is no fee to participate in the sprints, but you must be a member of the group.)

Events

Periodically, we host special events such as half- or full-day workshops and weekend writing retreats featuring nationally-recognized authors and writing instructors.

Members are alerted via email and announcements in the quarterly e-newsletter. Notice will also be posted here.

See above (under "Monthly Meetings") for our next full-day workshop with Jen Graybeal!

Upcoming Meetings:

July 27 (via Zoom)--The Ethics of Using AI, with Rachel Ellen. Her stories are based on her humorous offbeat take on the world, her experiences with love, love with the wrong men, her kids and writing has won her fans and friends all over the world.  She has spent research time into using AI, both in editing, developing, but not writing and has studied the ethics of using these tools in her practice.

Rachel will help us look at AI a little differently when we are making our personal choices in dealing with this tool.

Pay $15 if member, $25 if non-member. Pay to Northern California Romance Writers.

August 24 (in person) --Jen Graybeal: Author Marketing, Mindset, and Building Systems that Work -- A full-day workshop!

Jen will present four separate sessions that will include some games, and audience participation, so it should be a FANTASTIC time for everybody.

Every author has to walk their own path, figure out how to run their business, and develop their own marketing strategy (UGH!) but you don’t have to do it alone. Jen has helped over a thousand romance authors create stories they are proud of and businesses that align with their individual vision of success.

She's a Certified Creativity Coach with a degree in English, an ever-expanding TBR pile, and a furball assistant that is usually on her lap.

Pay $50 if member of NCRW, $75 if non-member. Pay to Northern California Romance Writers.
